Things to Note While the Hopes & Dreams of Men are Crushed by a 12-Year-Old:
-Super Mario Bros., captained by Thomas, defeated Chico's Juggernaut, captained by Slider/Chico/Adam/Dirt McGirt, by a score of 13-12. It was a thrilling back and forth contest that ended with Reese hitting a deep fly ball to right, into the glove of a leaping Mario, preventing at least 2 runs from scoring. Wow, just wow.
-Mike, for the 2nd time in league history and in his career, ran into a triple play. On 7/28/07, this happened: "Frank lined a ball off of Tom's glove, then fielded by Harris at short who stepped on 2nd and threw to first for the second out. Flynn then threw to Roger at home, getting Mike (inexplicably attempting to advance on the throw) out by a mile. What the fuck. A TRIPLE PLAY." Obviously, Mike and the recapper were on the same team.
-Today, this happened: With the bases loaded (hey, at least he didn't strike out!), Mike grounded to Pat who stepped on 3rd and threw to home for the tag on Cruzer. Wilson then airmailed a throw to centerfield to try and nab Reese at 2nd, Mike ran to 2nd but, Reese did not run to 3rd because he thought Mark was at 3rd (he had been forced out several seconds before). Mike tried to return to first but was tagged out. Awesome! A TRIPLE PLAY! Obviously, Mike and recapper were not on the same team.
-Slider somehow ended up with Cruzer, Mark, Reese, and Mike, 1-2-3 in league OPS and both of last year's co-MVPs.
-Thomas said fuck that noise and captained his team to victory by telling them to get 19 hits and commit only one fielding error. He also said, "Hey, kid, catch this deep fly ball that Reese is gonna hit with the bases loaded. Thanks."
-After Reese served the ball to right before SUPER MARIO made his game-ending catch, Kevin started running out to right field thinking he would be able to do something assuming the catch was not going to be made. After SUPER MARIO made the catch the whole team ran out to rightfield and carried SUPER MARIO back to the infield on their shoulders Rudy Ruettiger style. It was the first time a player had been carried off of the outfield grass by his team back to the infield ever at Cunningham Park.
-Unfortunately, Mark's car was broken into at some point during the game. After the game, we arrived to his car only to find his passenger window smashed in and his wallet missing. This is the 2nd consecutive year that someone has broken into one of our cars. Last year, after the epic 'Beat the Greek' game, we arrived to Pepe's Jetta only to find his passenger window had been smashed in. That/those motherfucker(s). Fuck him/them up his/their stupid fucking ass(es). Sorry, Mark.
-Upon finding a tool that was likely used to smash the window, Mike inspected it and said, "Hmm, I probably shouldn't have put my fingerprints all over that." That said, cops were not called.
-At 12:15, some stupid Little Leaguer and his mom came by and said that they had a game on Field 18 (our field) at 1pm. Wilson told them that we had the field from 12 on. Bitch-slapped, the mom sat in a chair near the entrance while her stupid fucking kid sat in the car, probably crying or something.
-Fuck that kid because fuck 'em, that's why.
-Holy shit, this was the 22nd game of the 2011 season. We have played more games this year than in 2000, 2001 and 2002 combined. We've also played almost as many games as in 2003, 2004 and 2005, combined.
-In addition to the triple play, there were four (4!) other double plays in this game. Mike R grounded into one in the 3rd, David lined into one in the 4th (Mike was doubled off), Reese popped into one in the 7th (Cruzer was doubled off) and Mario grounded into one in the 8th.
-There were 16 steals in this game, Kevin had 5, Pat and Cruzer each had 3, Thomas had 2 and Nick, Brian and Mike F each had 1.
-Slider gave up 12 runs, 6 of which were earned and received a no-decision. Cruzer gave up one run and got the loss. Baseball!
-Everybody was having a lot of fun for the first 3 innings. Then, Brian Mangan showed up. His team was in the lead at the time but went on to lose solely because of his presence.
-Chico's Juggernauts (Slider and Cruzer) combined to allow only one (1!) walk and one strikeout.
-Slider has pitched 22+ innings this year and has yet to allow a walk.; his K/BB ratio is #DIV/0.
-"Hey hey hey hey hey slider hey hey hey hey hey slider hey hey hey hey hey hey slider hey hey hey HEY hey slider hey" -Alvin, trying get Slider's attention for warmups for literally 50 seconds. He did not hear him. Cruzer (and Alvin, apparently) knows what I'm talking about.
-Slider is old as hell! At Wendy's, he complained that people don't pick up the phone and call anymore. He also complained that his quill ran out of octopi ink too quickly because the papyrus soaked it up too quickly. You can watch Slider close out 60 Minutes each week, Sunday nights on CBS.
-Thomas tried to take himself out and have Sergio relieve him but Sergio was all "gtfo". Thomas finished the inning.
-As the regular field was taken, a shirtless Slider attempted to fix up the field with a shovel for about 30 minutes. His work was completely pointless because we moved to the regular field once the Asian guys left. Sorry, Slider.
