Things to Note While Screaming "HEY WE NEED A FIELDER!!"...
-Sergio "El Gato the Terrible" Herrera continued his reign of terror, winning his 2nd consecutive game as captain this year, third overall going back to 2010.
-Adam L made an astounding league debut, amassing five hits and scoring 1/4 of his team's runs. For recaps/stats/life purposes he is to be referred to as Slider. Or, if you're inclined to be nasty, Chico.
-Though it wasn't noted in the recap (an idiot that recapper is), Paul made his league debut in Game 2. He also made his pitching debut in this game, recording a three-inning save.
-Due to some flakeafication, some miscommunication and pussification re: the weather, we only had 15 players in this game. As such, any time either team batted with the bases loaded, there was only one person left in its dugout--the on-deck hitter.
-Runners were stranded in every inning save for the bottom of the 4th when Los Chicos From Ipanema's 2-3-4 hitters went down in order. El Gato, living up to his name, made a spectacular diving stop, recovery and throw to first to retire John B who led off the inning.
-Some dude randomly walked out from behind the fence in foul territory. He was carrying a couple plastic bags. Also, he was wearing an eyepatch. We assume he was some kind of serial killer pirate. That is to say, he's a serial killer and a pirate, not a serial killer who preys on pirates. That would be ridiculous. And awesome.
-For the second consecutive week, a team had more fielding errors than runs scored. Los Chicos From Ipanema scored 10 runs but committed 11(!) errors.
-Mike's demure pleas to "LET ME PITCH MOTHERFUCKERS!! I HATE YOU ALL!!" were finally answered when he was given the starting nod. He performed admirably, allowing only four runs over six innings and getting the win.
-"I won't ever pitch again!" -Present Brian "...until this week!" -Future Brian
-Copies of a memo titled "Alejandro the Weather Terrorist Determined to Strike in Queens" circulated amongst members of the teams prior to the 5th inning. The memo, released by Wikileaks, proved prescient when a steady rain began to fall in the 7th inning. Brian and Mark, aka the France of our league, prepared to roll over and retreat from this terroristic aerial assault, but were convinced to stay by the Allied Powers (everyone else in the league).
-As always feel free to edit/add any comments/corrections via the e-mail string or the facebook note. I'll edit them in accordingly.
