THINGS TO NOTE WHILE ALEJANDRO TAKES 12 HOURS TO GET READY FOR HIS PARTYYYYYY:
-In yet another dominant pitching performance, Jay Cruzer nearly went the distance to win his 3rd straight game as captain.
-In his last two starts, Cruzer has pitched 17 innings, while allowing 6 runs (only 2 earned) on 15 hits, striking out thirty (30!) and only walking 5. Of those five walks, two were issued to Mike, two were issued to Carla and the other to Brian.
-Not to be outdone (though they were), Deserve's Got Nothin' To Do With It's pitchers combined to allow only one earned run while striking out 12 and walking 5 batters.
-The team is dubbed Cruzen For A Bruzen 2: Electric Boogaloo because the first, second, fifth and seventh hitters were the same as in Cruzer's team's previous game. Alvin, Cruzer, Wilson and John B, respectively.
-The opposing team is dubbed Deserve's Got Nothin' To Do With It because of the one earned run and holding Cruzen 2 scoreless over the final 6 innings while still suffering the hard-luck loss. Also, it's a bad-ass Clint Eastwood line in the movie 'Unforgiven' and a bad-ass Snoop line in 'The Wire'.
-Of Deserve's Got Nothin' To Do With It's 8 errors, six occurred in the first two innings. Five of the six outs involved the pitcher, Brian (four via strikeout, one via groundout). Of the 13 balls put in play in the the 1st and 2nd innings, only ONE resulted in an out.
-The game featured two double plays and in consecutive innings. In the bottom of the 4th, Pepe turned a nifty unassisted double play be fielding a grounder from Raul M, tagging Raul's twin brother Alvaro and retiring Raul at first. This is the first DP involving twins since 2007's Onion-Booty Parade 4: Sisterz Edition.
-In the top of the 5th, Christos popped up to Harris in shallow left-center who then fired to John B to double up Carla at first. This is the first DP involving Carla since...hey now!
-This game marked the debut of several players: Jason C, Melvin, twin brothers Raul and Alvaro, Raul G, Carla and Nilson.
-Yes, Nilson was real, fuck you for asking!
-Hey guys, are you guys going to Alejandro's partyyyyy?
-Harris, returning from his Harrisectomy (yay!), recorded a "Mike Fusilli" at the plate, going 1-for-5 with 4 k's.
-CFaB2: EB's two through five hitters combined to go 9-for-17 with 5 runs, 5 rbi and 3 extra-base hits (2 triples and a double). The rest of the lineup combined to go 2-for-22.
-Carla came to bat 4 times and received between two and four pitches that were anywhere remotely near the strike zone. Sorry Carla!
-Both teams stranded moderately-sized villages on the bases. DGNTWI stranded eleven runners (seven in scoring position) including three in the top of the 9th, while CFaB2: EB stranded thirteen runners including six in scoring position (Jimmy accounted for three of the six).
-Christos was the only player on Deserve's Got Nothin' To Do With It to record multiple hits, collecting three on the day.
-Sensing that the game needed a little drama, Cruzer brought in Wilson to pitch the 9th. He proceeded to walk the first 3 batters before retiring the next three. Relax, guys.
-In the bottom of the 5th, Jason C led off with a hit-by-pitch. He was then retired via fielder's choice on Jose C's grounder. Jose was then retired via fielder's choice on Alvin's pop-up to short. Alvin was then retired via fielder's choice on Cruzer's grounder to end the inning.
-Brian, playing second base, recorded an unassisted putout on a grounder from Jose. He was booed, mercilessly.
-Hey guys, did you decide if you're going to Alejandro's partyyyyy yet?
-In the bottom of the 9th, Carla was involved in a 2nd apparent DP (giggles) until she was sent back to 2nd base when Christos was adamant that "she didn't know the rule." Of course, if you read what was written above, you would know that she did know the rule. In Christos' defense, I had not written this yet.
-This was Brian's third consecutive pitching loss. In his last two efforts, he's allowed 4 earned runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Hard-luck losses, indeed.
-Alvin now has ALL the baseball gear, including Mark's gear! Who's holding what hostage now, Rubin!
-We had flakes: Roger (extremely rare, thus leading to genuine concern), Joseph and Isidro (whatevs, amirite!).
-We had spectators: a little kid that Nilson brought, Jason B's girl Tiffany and everyone that struck out looking. Burn!
-Alvin says, "ohhh, too soon".
-We had a huge turnout at Wendy's as sixteen players and spectators broke bread at the wonderful establishment.
-Hey guys, did you go to Alejandro's partyyyyyy?
